Back ground and experience

Shem studied Human Nutrition and Dietetics at degree level in Glasgow and qualified in 1986. Since then she has worked in a number of places around the UK including The Pilgrim Hospital in Boston, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

In her last NHS role, she was Chief Dietitian at The John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, which is one of the largest teaching Trusts within the UK. She was responsible for 40 Registered Dietitians working within the Nutrition and Dietetic Service.  Shem has worked within a number of specialist areas over the years, including intensive care, coronary care, renal medicine, liver medicine, diabetes, gastroenterology, urology, weight management, psychiatry and eating disorders, to name just a few. She has advised everyone from weightlifters to film stars.

Shem is a full member of the BDA, (The Association of UK Dietitians). BDA Membership number: 2791. She is also registered with the Health & Care Professions Council: Registration number: DT03980. She carries full professional insurance and is qualified to advise on any aspects of nutrition and dietetic care.
